Sometimes teas or herbals are infused without anything added. However, in some countries, a more popular infusion is from blending together teas with teas, teas with herbals, or multiple herbals blended together.

Essential oils are also used in blending tea and herbals, to give added flavor and fragrance.  Blends are done not only for taste but for their properties as well, as in the case of medicinal blends.

Mint, rose petals, rose hips and lemongrass are some of the more popular herbals added to blends. A tea with tea blend would be Irish Breakfast, where normally three teas are blended together to reach a particular taste profile. Our Irish Breakfast blend has tea from Ceylon, India and China.

Tea drinkers in traditional long-time tea-growing regions seem to prefer unblended tea, while countries where tea is not grown, or who are new to loose tea and herbals, tend to favor highly flavored blends. Blends tend to be a stronger flavor profile than unblended tea, especially white, green and oolong teas.
