Big wholesale companies go to trade shows and people who want to start tea companies, online and off, can buy their entire lines and ‘instantly’ be in the tea business. That’s not the way we roll.
What has always made us different than most other companies is our flat-out refusal to carry teas because they are trendy, to buy ‘a line of tea’, or add any tea or herbal that doesn’t fit into our ‘taste test’ profile of excellence just because it’s seasonal, or ‘new’, or another company has it. We don’t even add classics that we aren’t excited about to please ‘purists’.
We source from a number of suppliers who are organic and Fair Trade certified, who we have had relationships with for over a decade, and who we feel have exceptional teas and blends. And, to their consternation, we don’t buy a large selection of tea from any one of them. After extensive cupping and editing, we only bring in the selections we feel are the best of the best in taste from each supplier. We keep inventories small and ‘just in time’ for freshness.
